GeoPDF Format

The ICGC offers geological and geothematic information in GeoPDF format.

Maps in GeoPDF format have geospatial capabilities that allow users to interact with both features present in the territory. Així s'wide l'aprofitament de les datas present a la cartografía. Now they allow you to have relevant data on portable devices and so they can be presented there mateix on the information at your location.

GeoPDF fitxers are accessible by all PDF viewers. To better take advantage of the "Geo" features of the GeoPDF fitxers of the ICGC digital geological and geothematic catalog, you can enable the writers from Windows with the free Terrago Toolbar plugin in the Adobe Reader, and with the Terrago Edge 4 application on the iOS and Android platforms,  Terrago Technologies.

In addition, the user can measure distances, add notes, icons, photographs, videos and polygons to specific parts of the map, view locations on Google Maps, and can even integrate with a GPS device to track the position on the map. These details added by the user to a map can be exported and then uploaded to other GeoPDF fitxers of the geographical area.

Terrago Toolbar, has 4 elements:

  • The GeoTool allows you to freeze and unfreeze the displayed mini coordinates, center the location on the screen from the top of the menu, fake the displays, open the GeoLocator, open Google Map It, and measure length and area. GeoTool is not compatible with the 3D GeoPDF arxius.
  • The GeoLocator serves to view and change coordinates, modify the projection parameters, maintain the zoom level and view the cursor coordinates in other coordinate systems. Both of these are the original coordinates of the map (the georeferenced digital maps are in ETRS89 UTM31N).
  • GeoMeasure has two measurement lines: Measure Length and Measure Area. When you select a measurement type, the appropriate box appears showing the total area or total length, the azimuth and the magnetic azimuth if configured, or the one that is common to measure. When using 3D measurement lines on a map, you can use the navigation menu for a complete measurement, locate or delete a point, delete the last drawn line, or delete all drawn lines. To configure the measurement units you need to go to the Editing / Preferences / Terrago menu in Adobe Reader.
  • GeoTrack has two track types: Start GPS Track and Hide/Show Flag. The Start GPS Track allows you to mark the position of an attached GPS device on the map. Hide/Show Flag shows or hides a flag (marker) that shows the current GPS location on the map..

Geomark Toolbar (7 elements):

  • The GeoNote allows you to insert a point into a map and then manage the exportable comments, links, attachments and attributes associated with the point.
  • The GeoRectangle is used to insert a rectangle into a map and then manage the exportable comments, links, attachments and attributes associated with the rectangle.
  • GeoLine is a tool that allows you to insert a line into a map and then manage the exportable comments, links, attachments and attributes associated with the line.
  • GeoPolyline is a tool that allows you to insert a polyline into a map and then manage the exportable comments, links, attachments and attributes associated with the polyline.
  • The GeoPolygon allows you to insert a polygon into a map and then manage the exportable comments, links, attachments and attributes associated with the polygon.
  • The GeoStamp serves to insert sequences that represent incidents, infrastructures, natural events and operations into a map and then manage the exportable comments, links, attachments and attributes associated with the sequences.
  • Collaboration: TerraGo Collaboration Tool has three types of information: Import as GeoMarks, Delete GeoMarks and Export GeoMarks.
  • Import Data as GeoMarks: This allows you to import GeoMarks from TerraGo collaboration archives (.twz, .twx and .zip) and from standard format archives such as .gpx, .kml and .shp. The TerraGo collaboration archive preserves the information in the GeoMark Editor, through which data can be managed including links and attachments.
  • Delete GeoMarks: This allows you to retain all GeoMarks and/or archive annotations.
  • Export GeoMarks: This allows you to export GeoMarks and annotations to a TerraGo collaboration archive (.twz) and from standard format archives such as .gpx, .kml and .shp. GeoMarks can then be imported into a GIS, Google Earth, TerraGo Mobile or published via Esri's ArcGIS.

The distribution of maps in GeoPDF format expands the possibilities of exploiting the data provided by the ICGC.
