The Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC) is organizing a Geoarchaeology conference to share interdisciplinary contributions that use new approaches and tools to address human and landscape interactions throughout history, as well as the application of analytical techniques, concepts, and methods from the field of Earth sciences to support the resolution of archaeological problems.

Some of the archaeological problems to be solved include the study of human and environmental processes involved in site formation, the sedimentary context of archaeological remains, the study of soils and sediments corresponding to human alterations of archaeological interest, the relationship between settlements and landscape evolution, paleoclimatic reconstruction, human impacts on the environment, geological knowledge of the origin of raw materials, remote sensing of the physical environment, and the dating of archaeological sites and remains.

At the end of the conference, the exhibition "From rocks they make stones" will be inaugurated. This exhibition shows the relationship between geological diversity and historical heritage in the Girona region.
