We publish the territorial orthoimage of Catalonia 2024
At the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC), we have published the new territorial orthoimage of Catalonia for the year 2024, a high-resolution territorial and temporal coverage that offers a precise and updated representation of the Catalan territory.
This product has been generated from our own aerial flights and is the result of the geometric correction of the aerial image and the elimination of distortions to represent the territory as if it had been captured from the zenith. The current version for the year 2024 has been generated with high precision, of 25 cm/pixel, and allows detailed identification of urban structures, crops, relief, and landscape changes. Moreover, unlike a simple image, the orthophoto is a cartographic tool that allows visual interpretation of the territory and precise measurements of distances, surfaces, and other spatial elements to facilitate analysis and technical work from the digital environment.

Territorial orthoimage Catalonia (2024)
Therefore, it constitutes a fundamental geographic base for the management and analysis of the territory. Its precision and homogeneity allow direct application in areas such as territorial planning, urban planning, environmental management, or civil protection. The orthoimage is available through the corporate viewer VISSIR, the OpenICGC platform (compatible with QGIS), as well as proprietary tools such as Instamaps, “l’Ull del Temps” or the “Historical Territory Comparator”.
