New update of the Municipal address database of Catalonia
We are updating the Municipal address database and associated geocoding services, a key tool for converting postal addresses into precise geographical coordinates. The update, with data valid as of April 2026, facilitates exact location in both urban environments and isolated buildings.
The Address database is being developed jointly with the city councils, provincial councils and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona to guarantee unique and coordinated geoinformation between administrations, an essential aspect for emergency services, logistics and public management.
The system also incorporates official toponymy and kilometer points of the road network, and allows functionalities such as auto-completion of addresses in digital procedures, reducing errors and improving data quality. Among the available services are the ICGC Geocoder and a simplified version of addresses in CSV format.
