The ICGC held the 1st Geoarchaeology Conference: "From the Earth to History"
Yesterday, the ICGC hosted the 1st Geoarchaeology Conference: from the earth to history, a scientific and informative meeting that highlighted the relationship between geology and archaeology, as well as the importance of the physical environment in the historical configuration of the territory, the formation of the sites, the sedimentary context, the reconstruction of the paleolandscape, the origin of raw materials or the dating of archaeological remains.

Welcome and presentation of the day by Carme Puig, deputy director of Geology and Geological Resources and Joan Reixach (ICGC)
The conference brought together researchers and professionals from various Catalan institutions and presented case studies such as the port areas of Empúries, mining landscapes in La Noguera, flint exploitation in Sant Martí de Tous, volcanism in La Garrotxa, or the use of geological resources in the city of Barcelona. It also highlighted the use of techniques such as geophysical prospecting to interpret archaeological remains.

Opening of the exhibition by Antonio Magariños, Director of the ICGC
The conference ended with the inauguration of the exhibition "From rocks to stones", which will remain open to the public until July 19 at the ICGC headquarters.
