Functions of the CSTP
The Pyrenees Territorial Support Center (CSTP) began its activity in February 2009. It is the instrument of the ICGC established in the Pyrenees territory to, from the proximity to this geologically active area, acquire data, manage information and provide technical and scientific support applied in the fields of geology and soil sciences to administrations and industry, to entities active in the territory and to the general public, to contribute to generating and disseminating knowledge about the soil and subsoil of the territory, about the values and natural resources of geological and edaphological origin of the Pyrenees area and about the risks and impacts of the geological processes that develop there. The activities it carries out are grouped as follows:
Specific research projects
Considering the geological interest of the CSTP site, R&D&I projects are carried out and work is done in pilot areas for the study and parameterization of various aspects related to geology, edaphology and geological processes, in collaboration with universities, research centers and other public and private entities. In particular, work is done on topics related to new methodologies such as 3D geological modeling and the development of techniques related to the structure of the subsoil applicable to, for example, geological storage and geothermal energy.
Training and dissemination activities
University courses are carried out in collaboration with the University of Lleida. Other training and dissemination activities are also organized, such as exhibitions, conferences and publications related to the promotion of knowledge of Earth sciences.
Hosting meetings and technical sessions
The CSTP aims to be a reference center and a support platform for both companies and university and educational centers that need to have adequate facilities and resources for their training, research and study tasks in this area.

Support for ICGC services in the Pyrenees area
In this area, the CSTP's action as a dissemination element and point of contact between the institutions and entities of the Pyrenees area and the services and products offered by the ICGC should be highlighted, especially in various aspects related to geological risks, including those generated by the dynamics of mountain areas, seismic risks and avalanches.
