New Data Sources in the GIS Sector: Challenges and Opportunities
A new edition of the sector’s flagship event: on Wednesday, June 17th 2026, the Catalan Association of Geospatial Information Technologies (ACTIG) will organise the 26th GIS & Geospatial Technologies Forum, the annual meeting of the geospatial information sector in Catalonia. This event aims to bring together professionals, companies, public authorities and research centres to share experiences, knowledge and emerging trends.
In this edition, the focus will be on new data sources and their impact on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), within a context shaped by the emergence of artificial intelligence and the increasing availability of data from multiple sources.
With this new edition, ACTIG reaffirms its commitment to innovation and the advancement of the GIS sector, highlighting how new data sources and artificial intelligence are redefining its capabilities and its impact on society.
Thanks to the support of the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC), the Official Association of Geomatics and Topographic Engineering of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands (COEGT), and its sponsors, the Forum represents a unique opportunity to foster innovation and collaboration within the geospatial domain.
