The Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI), with the support of the Department of Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia, is organising the 30th edition of Science Week, which will take place from 7th to 16th November across Catalonia. Science Week is supported by numerous institutions and organisations in the fields of knowledge, research, and science and technology outreach. It is aimed at all audiences, and attendance and participation in the activities are free of charge. The goal of this event is to bring science and technology closer to the public and to encourage scientific vocations among young people.
The Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC) is joining this edition of Science Week by sponsoring the seismology day organised by the Fabra Observatory. This day is designed to learn and explore this particular science, with a special focus on the activities, institutions, and work present in our immediate surroundings. The format will offer different activities, independent yet complementary, allowing registration for one or both:
- From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Seismology for all audiences. Various activities and explanations aimed at all audiences, developed by representatives of the main professional institutions in our area, focusing on seismology and its effects.
- From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Laboratory and visit to the Seismology section of the Fabra Observatory, featuring an exhibition of educational seismic experiences and a display of professional and outreach seismic instruments.
