Rock type: carbonate sedimentary.

Age: about 65 million years. Paleogene period (Paleocene).

Characteristics: fine-grained, may include fossil remains of charophyte algae and ostracod shells.

Formation environment: shallow lakes or swampy plains

Uses: construction materials and sand and gravel.

Origin of the block: Gavet de la Conca (Pallars Jussà).
