From September 2011 until January 1st, 2015, the ICC will publish all products and services in ETRS89 and ED50.
Therefore, the ICC has published the (enllaç no vinculat) used for the transformation of their bases to allow users to make the transition to ETRS89 consistent with cartography.
The European Community promotes through the INSPIRE program the geoinformation harmonization throughout Europe. To facilitate interoperability between different areas, the transition to the new reference system ETRS89 is established for all member states. The Real Decreto 1071/2007 which formalizes the ETRS89 system provides the transition from ED50 to ETRS89 with the following key dates:
August 29, 2007: Publication of the decree. The new official system is the ETRS89, the publication in ED50 can continue referring the new system.
January 1, 2012: Not allowed the registration in cartographic registers of any new project in ED50.
January 1, 2015: Publication exclusively in ETRS89
Since the publication of the decree, the ICC has been working to adapt their products and services to the system ETRS89 and in turn facilitate the transformation of existing products. After the phase of study and implementation, it starts the phase of publication of products and services that will be effective in September 2011 and the user communication of the procedures used in the ICC for processing their products. This transformation has been approved by the Comissió de Coordinació Cartogràfica de Catalunya, and allows users to make their transition to ETRS89 in a consistent way with the ICC cartographic bases.
To enable users perform the transformation of their data to ETRS89, the ICC issue (enllaç no vinculat) for the implementation of the change in various softwares.
All the information referring to the transformation, calculators for coordinates computing and geodetic aspects of the ETRS89 system materialization is available on the (enllaç no vinculat) section of the ICC website.
