Introduction
In the frame of the Postgraduate program IC_Cartotechnology, and on the occasion of the inauguration of its second phase, next January 17th the ICC will host the Open Keynote Small Satellites: a New Approach to Space Research and Technology Applied to Modern Society, by Dr. Charles M. Telesco, Head of the Astronomy Department at University of Florida.
Abstract
Space programs implement a broad range of competences in the areas of technology, research and knowledge. Over the last few years, the applicability and benefit to modern societies have become the main investment driver of many space programs. This approach is boosting space programs towards a new era of collaborative frameworks between academic institutions, research centers and private companies led by multidisciplinary international teams who share visions, strategies, technologies and knowledge.
The keynote lecture presents the overall goals of the new small satellite space program at the University of Florida led by the Department of Astronomy. This program also opens up a new opportunity of collaboration with space-related institutions in the Barcelona metropolitan area, including the ICC, to apply synergistic expertise and knowledge on the mission analysis, design and exploitation of this transformational small satellite approach that is bound to transform the space industry.
The conference will be in English language.
