Quality policy

The Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC) is a public law entity, of the Government of Catalonia having full capacity to act in accordance of its functions, that are those related with the exercise of competences on geodesy and cartography, and on the spatial data infrastructure of Catalonia, as well as those of promoting and carrying out actions related to knowledge, prospecting and information on the soil and subsoil in the terms established in its Statutes (Catalan version).

The Institute declares its commitment to the technological innovation and the improvement of the quality of its products and services, for a greater s for a greater customer and citizen satisfaction and for an optimal use of resources.

The Institute promotes and maintains a corporate tool that helps to have a global and integrated view of the production processes, to manage the available resources and to regularly evaluate their effectiveness and efficiency in accordance with the following commitments:

  • Periodically review the Quality System and, with the collaboration of the company's staff, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of production processes.
  • Work to respond to the present and future needs of users and customers.
  • Comply with applicable legal requirements and other requirements.
  • Promote the incorporation of new technologies and work techniques in the field of cartographic production applying the established policies of information security.
  • Promote the use of digital cartography and the harmonization of geographic data to support the INSPIRE Directive (Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and the Council, 25-4-2007, L108/1).
  • Continuously improve the activities of the ICGC and reduce its environmental impact, as established in its environmental policy.
  • Continuously train all staff to maintain the level of effectiveness of the productive processes within the system scope.

 

For all these reasons, the ICGC Management undertakes to keep up to date this policy, putting the necessary resources at its disposal and committing itself to its dissemination to all relevant stakeholders.

To this end, the ICGC deploys and update the Quality Management System (SGQ) conform to the Standard ISO 27001:2013 with the scope “Production of the Topographic database of Catalonia 1:5000 and production and distribution of the Territorial Topographic Referential of Catalonia and the Digital Terrain Model. Production and distribution of the Territorial Ortofoto of Catalonia”.
