Jurassic
JURASSIC PERIOD (201,3±0,2-145,0 Ma)
It refers to the Jura Mountains in the Alps.
Main events: great abundance of ammonites. The Age of the Reptiles.
Lifeforms: on land, seedlings diversified and there was a great diversity of conifers. The first lizards and early birds appeared, and dinosaurs and pterosaurs (flying reptiles) proliferated. In the oceans, the ammonites and the brachiopods and large marine reptiles (ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs) were predominant and invertebrates such as rudists and belemnites evolved.
Paleoenvironment: Pangea continued to fragment into large continental masses that separated from each other, turning into extensive shallow marine platforms. The climate was warm and humid, with rainforests in the interior of the continents and oceans of warm waters.
Cobblestones: fine grain grey Dogger limestone.
