Type area in Devon County, England.
Main events: first four-legged animals (tetrapod) and first insects.
Lifeforms: for the first time, the continents were colonized by plants (ferns and seed plants), insects and amphibians (first tetrapod). The oceans were full of stromatoporoids, brachiopods, crinoids, goniatites and calymenid, jawed fish increased in number and the first sharks appeared.
Paleoenvironment: for the first time, the Earth was green and had forests. Meanwhile, in the environmentally favorable oceanic areas, there were large reefs built by ancient corals. The future Iberica plate was located between the western margin of Gondwana and the Reic Ocean, in the middle latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere.
Cobblestones: Griotte Manyanet limestone and Griotte Compte limestone.
