Geophysical testing of boreholes | icgc

Geophysical testing of boreholes

The ICGC has a complete geophysical surveying team (Robertson Geologic and ALT).

Enregistrament de dades

Data recording and storage (RG USB Micrologger 2).

Cabrestant elèctric

Electric winch with automatic cable retraction, with a cable length of 480 m (ALT).

Trípode

Tripod and optical depth meter.

Probe set

  • Electrical probe. Allows the measurement of parameters such as the electrical resistivity of the short and long formation, spontaneous potential, point resistance and the detection of natural gamma radiation.
  • Electromagnetic induction probe. Provides electrical parameters such as the conductivity of the short and long formation together with a natural gamma radiation detector. Allows the measurement of electrical parameters in PVC-cased boreholes.
  • Sonic probe with three receivers. Allows a sonic record of the formation to be obtained for the analysis of P and S waves and other mechanical properties of the formation.
  • Radial gauge probe with 3 arms. Allows a continuous record of the variations in the diameter of the perforation by adapting the arms to the walls of the borehole or the installed pipe, during the ascent or descent of the probe inside the borehole.
  • Temperature and conductivity probe. Provides fluid temperature and conductivity parameters with natural gamma radiation measurement included.
  • HRAT Acoustic Televiewer. Provides a continuous, oriented, high-resolution representation of the borehole wall. The data provides information on geology, structure, fractures, and stress orientation (stress field). It also acts as a template to provide depth control when sample recovery is incomplete.

Interfície de programari d'enregistrament de diagrafies

Logging records with different probes and the parameters of the environment that are deduced from the measurements, from left to right we find: 2D-3D images of the borehole wall (HRAT Acoustic Televiewer), profile of P and S wave velocity values (sonic probe), profiles of short and long conductivity values and the natural range of the formation (induction probe).
