3D city models are now a reality that allow representing, exploring, managing and analyzing multiple urban aspects. 3D city models allow visual integration, in a single environment, of heterogeneous geoinformation creating and managing complex information spaces of our cities.

The areas in which Prof. Dr. Kolbe has highlighted are: virtual 3D cities and landscape models, city system modeling, smart cities, 3D databases, 3D geoinformation systems, simulations and indoor navigation
