2022

  • Award for the communication presented at the X National Symposium on Unstable Slopes and Slopes: Communication of 3D geoinformation through web viewers and mixed reality immersius environments on problems of talussos and vessants prepared by the technicians of the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, RISKNAT Consolidated Research Group of the University of Barcelona, Railways of the Government of Catalonia and BGC Engineering Inc. from Canada.
  • In April, during the commemorative acts of Dia de les Squadres, the General Commissioner for Operatius Resources recognized the collaboration and technical assistance of the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia to the Subsoil Unit of this Commissioner, all congratulating the director of the ICGC, Jaume Massó.

2021

  • The director of the ICGC, Jaume Massó, has been awarded the bronze medal for police merit with a blue badge. This distinction is a recognition of his professionalism and commitment to his work, and his collaboration with the Mossos d'Esquadra Cos. The award took place at the Barcelona Auditorium during the Day of the Squads event in October 2021.

2020

  • The ICGC and DataScience@UB have won the 2020 edition of the ESA SPACE APP CAMP 2020 with the QUIFER proposal, a project to detect potential overexposure of aquifers.

2019

  • The Criminal Data Viewer made by the ICGC commissioned by the Department of the Interior, was awarded by the Barcelona Open Data Initiative as one of the best projects that facilitates the use of published open data. The project was awarded at the Smart City Expo Congress in November 2019.
  • During the 10th edition of the Iberian Conference on Spatial Data Infrastructures (JIIDE), held in Cáceres from October 23 to 25, 2019, the communication "The demystification of metadata" was awarded as the best communication presented according to the result of the votes of those attending the conference.
  • In the act of recognition of doctoral students, thesis directors and those responsible for supervising the company's research, development and innovation projects corresponding to the call for industrial doctorates 2015, two projects co-supervised by the Institute were recognized: one is the doctoral work Joan Gilabert, supervised by the University of Barcelona and the ICGC; and the other is the doctoral work of Jordi Castellví, supervised by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the ICGC. The event was held on March 7, 2019 at the Petit Palau of the Palau de la Música in Barcelona.

2018

  • ActivaMutua has awarded the ICGC the recognition of its effective contribution to the reduction of work-related accidents and the carrying out of preventive actions of occupational accidents and illnesses during 2015.

2017

  • The Facultat de Filosofia i Lletres (Faculty of Philosophy and Arts) of the  Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Autonomous University of Barcelona - UAB) gave the ICGC the Ad studia humanitatis fovenda award, in recognition of its work in favour of the humanities. The award was granted during the opening ceremony of the academic year, in October 2017.
  • The Official Committee of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 28th International Cartographic Conference (Washington, July 2017), gave the ICGC an award for the Gran Atles Topogràfic de Catalunya 1:25 000, in the category of atlases.
  • Recognition to the SWARM360 mission, led by the ICGC and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Polytechnic University of Catalonia – UPC), in the framework of the II Barcelona Technoweek, held in Barcelona, in July 2017.
  • Jaume Miranda i Canals, the Institute Director for 37 years, was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi, in recognition of his contribution to geographical science and to the improvement of knowledge of the territory and the environment. The Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan autonomous government) grants this award every year to personalities and entities that have stood out for their service to Catalonia in defence of its identity or in civic and cultural fields. The award ceremony was held in May 2017.
  • Recognition of the Geostart team (ICGC), for the intrapreneurial spirit and the commitment of the public servants, during the II Day of Innovation, held in Barcelona, ​​in March 2017.

2016

  • The documentary Gaia, the Great Mother was awarded the Best Documentary Feature prize at Los Angeles Film and Script Festival. The prize was granted in Los Angeles, in April 2016.
  • The Atles Geològic de Catalunya was awarded the Prat de la Riba Prize, by the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (Institute for Catalan Studies - IEC), at the LXXXIV Cartell de premis i borses d’estudi of the IEC (Barcelona, April 2016).

2015

  • The IC5Team professional collective (with two members from the ICGC) created as a result of the postgraduate program ICCartotechnology organized by the ICGC, was awarded the Innovative apps in the environmental and social fields prize, for the project Invasive Alien Species Tracker (IASTracker). The prize was granted within the MYGEOSS(2015-2016) Project, in Brussels, in May 2015.

2014

  • The ICC director was awarded the Medal of Honour of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, as part of the act of Recognition and promotion of the ICC, organized by this Chamber. The prize was granted in Barcelona, in November 2014.
  • The ICC received the Dominios.es award as a pioneer company to use the .es domain, in which it was registered in 1996. The distinction, granted by the Ministerio de Industria, Energía y Turismo (Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism), was delivered within the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of this domain, in Madrid, in November 2014.
  • The ICGC was awarded the First Prize Ex Aequo of the Science in Action contest, in the category of “Geology Laboratory”, for its work ¡Prevenir las catástrofes! Simulando la gestión de los riesgos naturales (Preventing catastrophes! Simulating the management of natural hazards). The award was granted in Barcelona, in October 2014.
  • Three research groups, in which the ICGC participates, have been recognised by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan autonomous government) as consolidated groups for the period 2014-2016: the group of history of cartography studies, the group of active geological processes and hazard and the PaleoRisk Research Group. This recognition, by the Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts (Agency for Management of Grants), has been granted in Barcelona, in September 2014.

2009

  • The Official Committee of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 24th International Cartographic Conference held in Santiago de Chile (November 2009), gave an award to the ICC for Les cartes portolanes. La representació medieval d'una mar solcada, in the public voting.
  • Glòria Martí, member of the IGC, was awarded an honour mention at the International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW2009), in recognition of the quality work related to avalanches developed by the IGC. This mention was granted in Davos (Switzerland), in October 2009.

2007

  • The Official Committee of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 23rd International Cartographic Conference held in Moscow (Russia, August 2007), gave an award to the ICC for the Mapa topogràfic i batimètric de Catalunya 1:450,000, in the Relief models and globes category.

2005

  • The Official Committee of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 22nd International Cartographic Conference held in La Coruña (Spain, July 2005), gave an award to the ICC for the Mapa de relleu submarí de Catalunya 1:250,000, in the Other category.
  • The Executive Committee of the International Cartographic Association, in the 22nd International Cartographic Conference (La Coruña, Spain, July 2005), presented to J. L. Colomer, general technical subdirector of the ICC, the Honorary Fellow distinction of this Association in recognition of his many outstanding contributions to cartography.

2003

  • In October 2003, the government of the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded the prize "Narcís Monturiol" to the scientific and technological merit of the ICC. These distinctions were created in the year 1982 to reward the persons and the entities that with their task have contributed outstandingly to the scientific and technological progress of Catalonia.
  • Grant to the ICC of the award for the European-Seismic Hazard Map 1:5,000,000, in the category of scientific maps (map published by the ICC in collaboration with the Swiss Seismological Service, the Institut Jaume Almera of the CSIC, the European Seismological Commission and the International Geological Correlation Program). The award was granted by the Official Committee of the Cartographic International Association (ICA/ACI) during the celebration of it's 21st Cartographic International Conference in Durban (South Africa) in August, 2003.
  • The Euskal Mendizale Federakundea has awarded to the ICC the prize "Amigos del montañismo vasco" (Friends of the Basque mountaineering) for its task in prediction of avalanches.

2001

  • The Official Committee of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 20th International Cartographic Conference held in Beijing (China, August 2001), gave an award to the ICC for the Hiking Map of the Pyrenees 1:50,000. Gavarnie-Ordesa, in the Recreation and Orienteering Map category.

2000

  • "Special Achievement in GIS" award granted to the ICC by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) during the 20th ESRI International User Conference.
  • E. Bosch, Geodesy Unit, received the "Jordi Viñas i Folch" award for the research work: "New technologies for the establishment of GPS differential correction services".

1999

  • J. Talaya et al., head of the Geodesy Unit, received the award for the best paper presented at the Carrier-Phase Positioning & Ambiguity Resolution at the 12th International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division of the Nashville Institute of Navigation (Tennessee).
  • The Executive Committee of the International Cartographic Association, in the 11th General Assembly of ICA and 19th International Cartographic Conference (Ottawa, Canadà, august 1999), presented the Director of the ICC, J. Miranda, with the certificate declaring him to be an Honorary Fellow of this Association. The ICA/ACI conferred this honour in recognition of contribution to Cartography and his outstanding conference and institutional leadership.
  • The members of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 19th International Cartographic Conference held in Ottawa (Canada, august 1999), gave an award to the ICC for the Atles Universal, in the atlasses category.

1998

  • J. Miranda, Director of the ICC, received the white-emblemed Cross of the Aeronautical Merit by the Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial "Esteban Terradas" in recognition of the ICC's long history in the use and development of airborne photogrammetric systems and aerial remote sensing.

1997

  • The Hungarian Society of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing of Budapest presented the Director of the ICC, J. Miranda, with the certificate declaring him to be an Honorary Member of this Society. The Hungarian Society conferred this honour in recognition of the efforts made by the ICC in the field of international cooperation and in fostering closer relations with this Society on the occasion of the 10th General Assembly and the 17th International Cartographic Conference of the ICA/ACI, held in Barcelona in September 1995.
  • The members of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 18th International Cartographic Conference held in Stockholm, gave two awards to the ICC. One for the Parc Nacional d'Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici sheet in the Mapa topogràfic de Catalunya 1:25,000 series, in the topographic maps category; another diploma was awarded for the 3rd edition of the Mapa d'usos del sòl de Catalunya 1:250,000, in the other maps and publications category.

1996

  • I. Colomina, head of the Geodesy Service of the ICC, received one of the President's honorary mentions for his 1992-1996 chairmanship of Working Group III.1 of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and for his preparation and organization of the Integrated Sensor Orientation Workshop, held in Barcelona in September 1995.
  • The Sindicatura de Comptes (Accounts Commission) of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Autonomous Government) has awarded a prize to the Report for the 1995 fiscal year issued by the ICC in the annual report competition for Public Administration bodies.
  • M. Galera received the first Hellen Wallis Award of the IMCOS Society.
  • J. L. Colomer, technical subdirector, and I. Colomina, head of the Geodesy Service, both from the ICC, were awarded the 1996 Hansa Luftbild award of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry German Society. This prize is given to the best applied article published in the Society's magazine during 1995. Specifically corresponds to the article "Digital photogrammetric systems under production: experiences in the Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya", published in the issue 1/1995.

1995

  • J. Talaya received the first "Jordi Viñas i Folch" award. This prize is given for his article "Kinematic positioning for environmental applications".
  • The members of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 17th International Cartographic Conference held in Barcelona, gave two awards to the ICC. One for the Alta Ribagorça sheet in the Mapa comarcal de Catalunya 1:50,000 (Regional maps) series, in the topographic maps category; another diploma was awarded to the Argentinian Republic, specifically to the Instituto Geográfico Militar (IGM), for the Carta de imagen satelitaria de la República Argentina 1:250,000. Ciudad de Buenos Aires (Satellite image map), carried out by the IGM, and produced and published by the ICC, in the image maps category.

1994

  • The Sindicatura de Comptes (Accounts Commission) of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Autonomous Government) has awarded a prize to the Report for the 1993 fiscal year issued by the ICC in the annual report competition for Public Administration bodies.

1993

  • The members of the International Cartographic Association (ICA/ACI), in the course of the 16th International Cartographic Conference held in Cologne, gave an award to the ICC for the Mapa hipsomètric de Catalunya 1:500,000 in the thematic maps category.
