We have signed a general protocol of action with the College of Geologists and Geologists of Catalonia (COLGEOCAT) to expand collaboration in geosciences and turn geological knowledge into a more useful tool for administrations, professionals and citizens. The agreement will contribute to better planning the territory, managing natural resources, reducing geohazards and preserving geological heritage.

The director of the ICGC, Antonio Magariños Varo, and the president of the Governing Council of COLGEOCAT, Vinyet Solà de Roa, have formalized the agreement, which establishes a stable framework for work in areas such as geological risk, geological engineering, environmental geology, geothermal energy and geological heritage.

This framework will allow us to develop joint projects, share geological information and data, produce technical guides and monographs, promote the continuous training of professionals and bring the knowledge of geology closer to the public. One of the priorities will be to strengthen the availability and exchange of geological information, especially in the field of geotechnics. Having solid data on the subsoil and geological processes is essential for administrations to make more informed decisions, anticipate risks and respond better to environmental and social challenges.

The collaboration will be implemented through specific agreements, working groups and specific projects. With this agreement, we add the ICGC's capacity to generate, manage and disseminate geological information to the knowledge of the professional community represented by COLGEOCAT. The aim is to strengthen knowledge transfer and contribute to a more prepared, sustainable and resilient Catalonia.
