The Institute promotes the Quality Management System (QMS) for the continuous improvement of its functions by the activity structure and the focus on the client.

Thanks this transversal organizational promotion, the ICC holds from 2006 the quality certificate updated under the ISO 9001 standard related to the production of the Topographic base of Catalonia 1:5 000 (BT-5M), the Topographic map of Catalonia (MT-5M) and the digital terrain model (DTM).

The QMS has been postulated as a corporate tool that helps obtaining a global and integrated vision of the productive processes, the regular evaluation of its efficiency, and the management of available resources, and that collaborates with the Environment Management System, certificate ISO 14001, to reduce the environmental impact and to preserve our environment.

Then, the QMS has allowed the promotion of the Institute policy related to technology innovation, improvement of the quality of its products and services, and the compliance of the users and clients necessities.

Thanks the experience acquired in these 5 years, the ICC has extended the certificate to other production lines: first quarter 2011 the Topographic base of Catalonia 1:25 000 (BT-25M) has been included, and now it is working in the inclusion of the productive chain of orthoimagery.

The iniciative notes the strong bet of the Institute to have a base geographic information consistent, updated and quality, based on the use of current standards to achieve the interoperability of the geographic data under the European framework and so give support to the INSPIRE Directive.
