On February 2012, the Digital Map Library has been updated with improvements in the search and contents viewing tools, as well as the possibility of commenting, rating and labeling the images.

This new version will allow, also, soon, georeferencing by users a thousand cartographic documents of the Map Library collections, fact that will improve the geographic descriptions of the documentation by assigning the coordinates given by users, and also the implementation of graphic searching for all the collections.

Since the introduction of the Digital Map Library of Catalonia in 2007, more than 300.000 users have download more than 100.000 files from the maps and photos collections.

This year, Europeana has collect for the first time the collections of the Digital Map Library, via OAI, the international protocol of contents discovery. More than 10.000 documents are available through this European portal.

This new means of access to the Digital Map Library collections complements their presence on international portals started years ago with the Worldcat and Hispana aggregators.
