New collection of the digital map library dedicated to historical architecture and urban planning
In the Digital map library we are expanding the contents with a new selection of historical materials on architecture and urban planning, thus strengthening our portal as a reference point for open access to cartographic heritage. The documents can be consulted and downloaded freely, facilitating their use in research, teaching and dissemination.
The collection that we are highlighting includes maps and expansion projects from various cities around the world, contemporary with Barcelona, as well as other documents linked to architecture and urban planning. This selection is part of a context of special relevance for the discipline, with initiatives such as Barcelona 2026, World Capital of Architecture; the UIA World Congress of Architects; the Cerdà Year or the Gaudí Year. In this framework, we also collaborate with the COAC in hosting content, which contributes to expanding the scope and dissemination of these materials. Thus, the whole allows us to approach forms of urban planning and transformation at a key moment in the growth of cities.
The set also incorporates materials from the Leonor Ferrer collection, with unique pieces of interest for the study of architecture and urban planning, which contribute to enriching the heritage value of the map library.
This is a collection of documents open to everyone, which reinforces our commitment to the dissemination of knowledge and facilitates universal access to resources of great historical and cultural interest..
